Project Overview

The original building, whose construction began in 1965 and was completed in 1971, housed the “Piero Maroncelli” lower secondary school until its decommissioning following seismic vulnerability assessments in 2016. This intervention represents a decisive solution to the resulting situation: the new school complex will allow the city to revitalize an area of significant value due to its location within the historic city center. A key feature of the project is the large external staircase on the north façade, which leads visitors to the green roof atop the gymnasium. Among the community-oriented functions, the rooftop garden (approximately 875 sqm) stands out for its environmental sustainability benefits, creating a green space in a densely built-up area and helping to mitigate the urban heat island effect.
