Project Overview:

The building, protected under heritage regulations, was originally constructed in 1902 using load-bearing masonry with steel beam and brick-vaulted floor systems. In 1929, an additional floor was added.

The intervention focused on seismic improvement through various consolidation techniques—including injection grouting, surface plating, and tie rods—alongside static reinforcement of structurally critical elements: floor slabs were strengthened using secondary steel beams and involved the demolition and reconstruction of the concrete topping layer; the top floor, added in 1929 and supported by masonry piers made of hollow clay blocks, was entirely demolished and rebuilt.
Following the intervention, the building achieved a post-operam seismic vulnerability index of 70%.
